Trading glossary: 100 perp and leverage terms

This BRVX trading glossary defines 100 terms you meet when you trade perpetual futures with leverage, from funding rate and liquidation to RSI and the bull flag. Each entry opens with a one-sentence definition, then gives the formula where there is one, a worked example and the questions people actually ask. The terms are grouped by topic below: perps and funding, leverage and margin, orders and execution, styles and risk, market psychology, chart patterns and indicators. New to leverage? Start with the first two groups, because they decide how much you can lose: at 10x, a 1% price move changes your PnL by 10% of your margin, and BTC/USDT on BRVX goes up to 150x. Where a term touches BRVX, the numbers come from the live tariff of its 41 markets, not from memory. Written for people who are about to take risk; nothing here is investment advice.

Questions about the trading glossary

Which trading term should I learn first?

Leverage. It multiplies gains and losses alike: at 10x, a 1% move is 10% of your margin. Read liquidation and margin right after it.

How is the glossary different from the course?

Scope. The glossary defines one term per page and can be read in any order; the free course at /learn/perp-trading-basics teaches the core ideas in sequence, with a quiz after each lesson.

Are the BRVX numbers in the glossary live?

Yes, where a term names a BRVX market. Leverage caps, fees and funding rates are read from the live BRVX tariff; general examples use round numbers and say so.

Does only one side pay funding on BRVX?

No. On BRVX both longs and shorts pay a positive funding rate, every hour on most markets and every 3 hours on XYZ100.

Can I place the limit and stop orders described here on BRVX?

No. BRVX has market orders only, with optional take-profit and stop-loss triggers. The glossary explains limit and stop orders because other venues use them.
