BRVX Glossary · Price action · Updated September 25, 2026

Price action is the movement of an asset's price over time, and price action trading means making decisions from the raw chart — candles, highs and lows, levels — rather than from indicators. It rests on the idea that all known information is already reflected in the price.

Core tools

  • Swing highs and lows: they define the trend.
  • Support and resistance: levels where price reacted before.
  • Candle shapes: wicks and bodies show who won each period.
  • Breakouts and retests: how price behaves after crossing a level.

A simple price action read

In an uptrend, each swing low is higher than the last. When price pulls back to a prior resistance level that has turned into support and prints a hammer, a price action trader may buy with a stop below the swing low. No indicator is needed for the decision.

Strengths and limits

Price action has no lag, since it reads the chart directly, and works on any market and timeframe. It is also subjective: two traders can mark different levels on the same chart. Clear written rules make it testable.

On BRVX

BRVX's chart shows candles from 1 minute to 1 month with drawing tools for levels and trend lines, which is all price action needs. On stock perpetuals, BRVX's weekend candles are part of the price action you trade against.

Questions about Price action

Is price action trading profitable?

It can be, with written rules and risk control; like any method it has losing streaks.

Do price action traders use indicators?

Few or none; some add volume or a single moving average for context.

What timeframe is best for price action?

Any; many start on 4-hour or daily charts where noise is lower.
