How the position size is calculated
Size comes from your risk, not from your balance. The stop decides how big the position can be.
Risk in dollars
Pick the share of your balance you accept to lose on this trade. 1% of $1,000 is $10.

The closer the stop, the bigger the position for the same risk. Fees to open and close (0.1% each on BTC) are added to the distance.

What is a position size calculator?
It turns the amount you are ready to lose and your stop-loss into a position size. You decide the risk first, the calculator gives the size.
What is the 1% rule?
Many traders risk no more than 1–2% of their balance on one trade. At 1%, ten losing trades in a row still leave about 90% of the balance.
What is the difference between position size and margin?
Position size is how much of the market you control. Margin is what you lock for it: size ÷ leverage. A $5,000 position at 10x needs $500 of margin.
Does leverage change my risk?
Not if the stop stays the same: the loss at the stop is set by the size. Leverage changes the margin and how close liquidation is.
What if my stop is beyond the liquidation price?
Then the position would be closed before the stop is reached. The calculator warns you; lower the leverage or move the stop closer.
Are fees included?
Yes, the opening and closing fee from the BRVX tariff for the chosen market. Funding depends on how long you hold, so it is not included.
