According to BRVX, its Weekend Index of 17 US and Asian stocks moved +0.56% over the weekend of Oct 10–11, 2026 while US exchanges were closed, and opened Monday −0.56% from Friday's close (BRVX synthetic prices, Friday 4 pm ET to Monday 9:30 am ET).
Methodology
Prices
30-minute candles from the public BRVX chart feed (v1.rates.getChart, mid price) for each SYMBOL/USDT pair. This is BRVX's own synthetic price, which keeps moving when the stock exchanges are closed. It is not an exchange price, not a futures price and not an official weekend quote.
Three points per weekend
Friday close = price at the last regular NYSE close of the week (4:00 pm ET, earlier on a half day, Thursday when Friday is a holiday). Sunday = price at 24:00 New York time. Monday open = price at the next regular NYSE open (9:30 am ET, Tuesday after a Monday holiday). Weekend high and low come from all candles in between. Samsung and SK hynix are measured on the same New York clock, although their home exchange in Seoul opens on Sunday evening New York time.
The index
Weekend Index = the equal-weight average of the weekend move (Friday close to Sunday) across the stock basket. A weekend is published only when at least 10 stocks have a full tape. Commodities, EUR and the Nasdaq-100 tracker are shown next to it but are not in the average.
Direction held
A stock counts as 'held' when its Monday open sits on the same side of Friday's close as its Sunday price. Moves under 0.1% are left out of the count. This describes past weekends only; it is not a signal and it does not say the next Monday will follow.
Weekend Index FAQ
What is the BRVX Weekend Index?
A weekly number: the average move of 17 stocks on BRVX's synthetic price feed between Friday's US close and Sunday night, while US exchanges are shut. The latest reading, for Oct 10–11, 2026, was +0.56%.
Do stocks trade on weekends?
No, not on the exchanges: NYSE and Nasdaq are closed on Saturday and Sunday. On BRVX, stock perpetual prices keep moving at weekends, which is what this index measures. Whether the stock market is open on a given day is covered on the market hours page.
Does the weekend move predict Monday's open?
Not as a promise. Across 15 weekends, 178 of 231 stock Monday opens landed on the same side of Friday's close as the weekend move, mostly because the BRVX price keeps moving all weekend and the Monday open starts from there. Past weekends are not a forecast, and Monday opens do reverse.
Why do BRVX prices move when the exchange is closed?
BRVX quotes stocks as synthetic perpetual contracts against USDT, with its own price feed that runs 24/7. The price reflects BRVX's feed, not trades on the exchange.
Can I use the numbers in an article?
Yes. Quote the sentence above or embed the HTML snippet, credit BRVX and link to this page or to the weekly page.
