About Ethereum
A programmable blockchain
Ethereum went live in July 2015 as a network for running smart contracts, programs that hold and move tokens by fixed rules. Stablecoins, decentralised exchanges, lending apps and most NFTs were first built on it. ETH is the native coin used to pay transaction fees, called gas, which rise when the network is busy.
The Merge and the fee burn
In September 2022 Ethereum switched from mining to proof of stake, cutting its energy use by over 99%. A year earlier the London upgrade introduced EIP-1559, which destroys part of every transaction fee. In busy periods more ETH can be burned than is issued, so the supply can shrink; in quiet periods it grows slowly.
ETH against bitcoin
Traders track the ETH/BTC ratio to see whether ether is outperforming or lagging the market leader. ETH tends to move more than BTC in both directions. Activity on layer-2 networks such as Arbitrum, Optimism and Base, fund flows into US ether ETFs launched in July 2024, and upgrade timetables all feed into that ratio.
A timeline of ether's swings
ETH was sold for about $0.31 in the 2014 crowdsale, spiked above $1,400 in January 2018 during the ICO boom and sank near $85 by December of that year. DeFi and NFT demand carried it to roughly $4,800 in November 2021; it fell under $900 in June 2022 as lenders such as Celsius froze withdrawals. Each cycle has been driven by a new use case filling up block space, then by leverage unwinding.
Ether on BRVX
ETH/USDT settles in USDC, BTC, ETH, USDT, SOL or BNB; no ETH is delivered and no gas is paid. Multipliers run from 5x to 100x, and because ETH can move 5–8% in a session, higher settings raise the risk of losing the full margin. Funding differs by side: 0.016% for longs, 0.0103% for shorts.

Deposit ETH or a stablecoin
Collateral can be USDC, BTC, ETH, USDT, SOL or BNB. With ETH as margin on an ETH long, a price drop hits both the position and the collateral.

Trade the upgrade or the ratio
Open ETH/USDT and buy if you expect network activity or ETF demand to lift ether, sell if you expect it to lag bitcoin. Set TP / SL as you place the trade.

Step-by-step long and short: how to trade Ethereum.
What is the Ethereum price today?
Ether is 2,371.14 USDT on BRVX (ETH/USDT), −5.37% over 24 hours.
What did the Merge change?
In September 2022 Ethereum replaced mining with proof of stake. New ETH is now issued to validators instead of miners, at a much lower rate.
Is ETH supply fixed like bitcoin?
No. There is no hard cap, but EIP-1559 burns part of each fee, so net supply can fall when the network is busy.
What does ETH/USDT cost on BRVX?
0.08% to open and 0.08% to close. Funding every hour: 0.016% long, 0.0103% short.
How much leverage does ether allow?
5x to 100x. A 5% move in a few hours is common for ETH, and at high multipliers that can lose the whole margin.
Who created Ethereum?
Vitalik Buterin proposed it in a 2013 white paper, and a group of co-founders including Gavin Wood built the first version, launched in 2015.
How much does Ethereum move in a day?
3.44% on an average ETH day (30 sessions); peak range 8.54% on Sep 19; 18 up, 11 down. At 50x, 2% against you equals the margin, which you can lose.
What does $100 of margin buy on ETH?
2.11 ETH at the default 50x, or 4.22 ETH if you push it to 100x — both priced off 2,371.14 USDT. A loss scales the same way as the position.
