About XRP
What XRP is
XRP is the native token of the XRP Ledger, a public blockchain designed for fast, low-cost payments and currency transfers. The ledger does not use mining: a network of validators agrees on each new ledger version every few seconds. The full supply of 100 billion XRP was created when the ledger launched in 2012, and a small amount of XRP is destroyed with every transaction as a fee. Ripple, a US company founded by early developers of the ledger, holds a large share of the supply and uses XRP in its cross-border payment products, but the ledger itself is open source and run by independent validators.
What moves XRP
XRP follows the overall crypto market, but it has its own triggers. News about Ripple and its legal and regulatory position in the US has historically produced some of the largest single-day moves, as the long case brought by the US Securities and Exchange Commission showed. Exchange listings, fund and ETF product news, partnerships with banks and payment firms, and Ripple's scheduled releases of XRP from escrow are also watched closely. Funding rates and open interest on derivatives markets show how crowded long or short bets have become.
What XRP traders watch
Three calendars matter more for XRP than for most coins: court and agency dockets in the US, the monthly release of XRP from Ripple's escrow at the start of each month, and filing deadlines for exchange-traded products that hold XRP. Between those dates XRP often trades in long sideways ranges and then breaks out sharply, which is why many traders mark the range edges on the chart instead of chasing the middle. The XRP/BTC ratio is another tell: when it rises, XRP is outperforming the market rather than just riding it. Liquidity in XRP is deep compared with most altcoins, so spreads are usually tight, but order books thin out on weekends, when a single large order can push the price further than it would on a weekday.
XRP on BRVX
On BRVX the XRP market is XRP/USDT, a synthetic perp priced by the BRVX feed, so your account never holds XRP and no destination tag or XRP Ledger wallet is involved. The XRP leverage slider starts at 5x and stops at 100x; XRP is one of the few coins with a 0.08% fee each way, higher than the typical altcoin. Longs on XRP currently pay 0.016% per hour while shorts pay 0.0103%. A ruling or an ETF headline can gap XRP in minutes, and at high leverage that alone can lose the XRP margin.

Going long or short on XRP
Picture an escrow-week XRP trade: $200 of margin, 8x, entry fee and hourly funding left aside.
XRP rarely drifts: after months in a range it tends to break in one candle. A 12.5% jump the wrong way at 8x wipes out that $200.

Step-by-step long and short: how to trade XRP.
How much is one XRP right now?
One XRP is quoted at 1.3228 USDT on XRP/USDT, a −3.54% change since this time yesterday. The contract settles against that quote.
Why does XRP react so strongly to court news?
For years the SEC case decided whether XRP would be treated as a security in the US, which affected listings and bank use. Rulings in that case moved XRP more than most market-wide events, and legal headlines still carry that weight.
Why is the XRP fee higher than on most altcoins?
BRVX sets fees per market. XRP is charged 0.08% to open and 0.08% to close, the same tier as ETH and SOL, while many smaller coins sit lower. Check the terms panel before a short-term XRP trade.
Is the XRP funding rate the same for longs and shorts?
No. XRP longs currently pay 0.016% and shorts 0.0103%, both charged every hour. Held for days, that gap adds up, especially on a leveraged position that can also lose the XRP margin.
What is a typical daily swing for XRP?
About 5.44%, averaged over 30 sessions (14 up, 14 down); the widest was 13.69% on Sep 16. At the default 50x, a 2% move the wrong way empties the margin.
How much XRP does $100 of margin control?
At 1.3228 USDT: 3,780 XRP at 50x, 7,559 XRP at 100x. Losses grow by the same multiple.
Has XRP made a new high on BRVX?
Its best print remains 3.6537 USDT from Jul 19, 2025, −62.61% above the current 1.3662. The other extreme, 0.9863 USDT on Aug 15, 2026, is the low for the XRP/USDT record that started Jan 2, 2025.
Can weekend moves in XRP wipe out margin?
They can: XRP has swung 2.64% on an average weekend day since Jan 2, 2025, versus 2.65% on a weekday, and leverage applies the same way both days.
