BRVX Glossary · Candlestick patterns · Updated September 25, 2026

Candlestick patterns are shapes formed by one to three price candles — each showing the open, high, low and close of a period — that traders read as signs of a possible continuation or reversal. Common examples are the doji, hammer, engulfing and morning star.

Reading one candle

The body spans open to close; the wicks show the high and low. A long lower wick means sellers pushed price down and buyers pushed it back. A small body means neither side won the period.

The main patterns

  • Doji: open and close almost equal — indecision.
  • Hammer and shooting star: a long wick against the trend — possible rejection.
  • Bullish and bearish engulfing: a body that covers the previous one — a shift in control.
  • Morning and evening star: three candles marking a possible turn.

Using them well

A pattern means more at a support or resistance level and on higher timeframes. On its own a single candle is a weak signal; traders wait for the next candle to confirm.

On BRVX

The BRVX TradingView chart shows candles from 1-minute to 1-month intervals. Because BRVX stock and commodity quotes move 24/7, a weekend candle exists where a stock exchange chart has a gap.
