BRVX Glossary · Swing trading · Updated September 25, 2026
Swing trading is holding a position for several days to a few weeks to capture a single price swing, rather than trading intraday or holding for years. Swing traders accept overnight and weekend risk in exchange for larger moves and fewer trades than day trading.
The formula
Holding cost Size × Funding rate × Hours
On perpetual futures, time in the trade has a price: funding is charged for every hour the position is open.
How it works
- Entry Start of a swing
- Hold Days to weeks
- Exit Target or stop
What holding costs
A perpetual position of 1,000 USDT with funding at, for example, 0.005% per hour pays about 1.20 USDT a day, or roughly 8.40 USDT over a week. Over a multi-week swing, funding can be bigger than the trading fee.
Swing trading on BRVX
BRVX perpetuals trade 24/7, including weekends, so a swing position can be adjusted when news breaks while stock exchanges are closed. Funding is charged every hour (every 3 hours on XYZ100), and rates depend on the market.
Risks
- Gaps: prices can move sharply overnight or on news.
- Funding adds up the longer the trade stays open.
- High leverage leaves little room for normal multi-day swings.
Questions about Swing trading
How long is a swing trade?
Usually from two days to a few weeks. Shorter is day trading; months or years is position trading or investing.
Is swing trading better than day trading?
Neither is better. Swing trading needs fewer decisions but carries overnight risk and holding costs.
Can you swing trade with leverage?
Yes, but lower leverage is common, because the position must survive larger multi-day moves.
