BRVX Glossary · Day trading · Updated September 25, 2026
Day trading is opening and closing positions within the same trading day, so no position is held overnight. Day traders aim to capture small intraday price moves, often trade several times a day, and pay close attention to fees, spreads and slippage because those costs add up quickly.
The formula
Net result Σ PnL − fees − funding
Many small trades mean costs matter as much as direction.
How it works
- Open Intraday setup
- Manage Stop and target
- Close Same day
What it costs
Each round trip pays the fee twice, once to open and once to close. At a hypothetical 0.05% fee per side, 10 round trips on a 1,000 USDT position cost 10 USDT in fees alone, before spread and slippage.
Day trading with perpetuals
Stock exchanges set the trading day: 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET for NYSE and Nasdaq. Perpetual futures on BRVX trade 24/7, so a day trader picks their own session; funding is charged every hour on open positions (every 3 hours on XYZ100), so a position closed the same day pays less of it.
Common mistakes
- Trading too often, so fees eat the gains.
- Moving a stop-loss further away after the price hits it.
- Using high leverage on small intraday moves.
Questions about Day trading
How much money do you need to day trade?
US brokers have long applied FINRA's pattern day trader rule, which requires at least $25,000 in a margin account; check the current rule with your broker. Small accounts are hit harder by fees on any venue.
Is day trading profitable?
For some traders, but most day traders lose money after costs. Treat it as a high-risk activity.
What is the difference between day trading and swing trading?
Day trades close the same day; swing trades are held for days or weeks.
