BRVX Glossary · FOMO (fear of missing out) · Updated September 25, 2026
FOMO, short for fear of missing out, is the anxiety that others are profiting from a move you are not in, which pushes traders to enter late, size up or skip their own rules. In markets it shows up as buying after a big green candle or chasing a coin that is already up 40% in a day.

How FOMO looks on a chart
- You enter after the move, near the top of a vertical candle, not at the level you planned.
- Your stop is missing or far wider than usual because there is no logical place for it.
- Size is bigger than normal to “make up” for the part of the move you missed.
- Volume and social media mentions spike at the same time as your entry.
Why it is expensive
Entering late means the distance to a sensible stop is long while the remaining upside is short, so the risk-reward ratio is often worse than 1:1. Late entries also cluster where early buyers take profit, which is why FOMO trades often reverse soon after the fill.
Three rules that blunt it
- Write the entry level before the move, and skip the trade if price is already past it.
- Keep position size fixed by the stop distance, never by how strongly you feel.
- Wait for a pullback or a new setup: there is always another trade.
On BRVX
BRVX perpetuals trade 24/7, and stock prices on BRVX move on weekends too, so a move rarely “ends” with a closing bell. That makes a written entry level and a take-profit and stop-loss set at order time the practical defence: a leveraged late entry up to 150x on BTC/USDT can be liquidated by an ordinary pullback.
Questions about FOMO (fear of missing out)
What does FOMO stand for?
Fear of missing out — the urge to act because others seem to be gaining from a move.
Is FOMO the opposite of FUD?
Roughly: FOMO pushes people to buy in a rush, FUD pushes them to sell in a rush.
How do I stop FOMO trading?
Plan entries in advance, size by the stop, and skip any trade whose entry is already gone.
