About Tesla
More than a carmaker
Tesla sells electric cars, the Model 3 and Model Y above all, plus the Model S, Model X and Cybertruck. It also runs an energy business that installs Megapack batteries for power grids and Powerwall units for homes, and it sells regulatory credits to other carmakers. A large part of the valuation rests on things not yet at scale: Full Self-Driving software, a robotaxi service and the Optimus humanoid robot. Elon Musk has led the company since 2008.
The numbers traders watch
Two releases each quarter. About two days after the quarter ends, Tesla publishes how many vehicles it produced and delivered; a miss or beat versus forecasts moves the stock at once. Roughly three weeks later comes the full report, where the key figure is automotive gross margin, because price cuts to defend volume have squeezed it. Energy-storage deployments have become a third line that analysts track closely.
Why TSLA swings so hard
Tesla trades on expectations far beyond current profits, so small changes in the story cause big price changes. Musk's posts, political news, regulator probes into Autopilot, tariffs, EV subsidies and competition from Chinese makers such as BYD can all move it several percent in a day. The stock was split 5-for-1 in 2020 and 3-for-1 in 2022 and joined the S&P 500 in December 2020.
Product events and dates
Deliveries land in the first days of January, April, July and October. Earnings follow late in those same months, after the Nasdaq close. Tesla also holds one-off events for new products, from the Cybertruck launch to robotaxi demos, and the stock often sells off on the day if details disappoint.
Factories and the China factor
Tesla builds cars in Fremont, California, Austin, Texas, Berlin and Shanghai. The Shanghai plant supplies China and much of Asia and has been one of the most efficient in the group, but it also exposes Tesla to a crowded Chinese market where BYD and other local makers compete hard on price. Monthly China sales data, published by industry groups, are watched as an early read on the quarter.
Energy and software as second legs
Energy storage, mostly Megapack systems for utilities, has grown into a meaningful business with higher margins than some car lines. On the software side, Full Self-Driving is sold as an option or subscription, and Tesla has started a limited robotaxi service. Analysts who are bullish on TSLA usually rely on these parts, while bears focus on falling car margins.
Trading Tesla as a BRVX perp
TSLA/USDT is a synthetic perpetual contract on the Tesla share price, settled in USDT and backed by margin you post in USDC, BTC, ETH, USDT, SOL or BNB. It has no expiry date. Since the quote runs through the weekend, a Saturday post from Musk or a Sunday delivery rumour shows up in the price before Monday's open. You do not receive shares or voting rights.
