BRVX course: Perp trading basics · 8 min read · Updated September 25, 2026
Swing trading strategies aim to catch moves that last several days to a few weeks, using daily charts for setups and wider stops than day trading. On a perpetual, holding for days means paying funding: on BRVX it settles every hour, about 24 times a day.

Exits deserve as much planning as entries. Many swing traders take half the position off at the first target and move the stop to break-even on the rest, which trades some upside for a trade that can no longer turn into a loss.
Swing trading trades fewer times than day trading and gives each trade more room. That makes it calmer, but on a perpetual it adds a cost day traders barely feel: funding on every hour the position is open.
Key takeaways
- Use the daily chart for setups and a 4-hour chart for timing.
- Wider stops mean smaller size for the same risk.
- Funding on the full size is part of the cost of every day held.
Three swing setups
Trend pullback
In an uptrend on the daily chart, buy a pullback to the 20- or 50-day moving average when a bullish daily candle forms; stop below the pullback low.
Breakout and retest
After a daily close above resistance, wait for price to come back to the broken level and hold it; stop back below the level.
Fibonacci pullback
After a strong swing, look for a reaction at the 38.2–61.8% retracement; stop beyond the 78.6% level.
The funding maths
Funding is a percentage of the full position size, charged at every settlement. A 5-day swing held through 120 hourly settlements on a 1,000 USDT BTC long pays about 24.66 USDT at the current rate. Compare that with the target: if the target is 3% (30 USDT), funding takes a visible share of it.
Weekends
Swing trades usually span a weekend. BRVX quotes stock, commodity and EUR perpetuals through weekends, so the position keeps moving and funding keeps settling while the stock exchange is closed — there is no Monday gap, but there is weekend risk.

Swing trading strategies: common questions
How long do swing trades last?
Usually from two days to a few weeks.
Is swing trading better than day trading for beginners?
It needs less screen time and fewer trades, which helps many beginners; it carries overnight and weekend risk instead.
Does funding matter for swing trades?
Yes. It is charged on the full position for every hour held, so it grows with the holding period.
