BRVX course: Perp trading basics · 8 min read · Updated September 25, 2026

Day trading for beginners means opening and closing every position within the same day, starting with one or two markets, small size and a fixed daily loss limit. On BRVX, stock and commodity perpetual quotes move 24/7, so "the day" is a window you choose, not an exchange session.

Day trading is the style most beginners try first and the one most of them quit. The ones who last start smaller, trade less and keep better records than they think they need to.

Key takeaways

  1. Start with one or two liquid markets and one setup.
  2. Trade the smallest size that still feels real for the first month.
  3. Fees and slippage are paid on every trade; frequency is a cost.

What a trading day looks like

  • Before: mark the day's key levels, check the calendar for scheduled news, set the daily loss limit.
  • During: wait for your setup; enter with stop and target set; do nothing between setups.
  • After: log every trade with the screenshot and the reason.

Your first 30 days

  1. Week 1

Watch one market at the same hours each day and mark where your setup would have appeared. No trades.

  2. Week 2

Trade the minimum size, one or two trades a day, with low leverage.

  3. Week 3

Keep size; review the log for broken rules, not for profit.

  4. Week 4

Increase size only if you followed the plan on at least 90% of trades.

Choosing a market

Beginners do best in markets with deep liquidity and clear hours of activity: BTC and ETH in crypto, a large stock such as NVDA or TSLA, gold. Thin markets move on little volume, which makes stops slip.

How it looks on BRVX

On BRVX the fee is charged on opening and on closing: 0.05% each way on NVDA and 0.1% on BTC/USDT. Ten round trips a day on a 1,000 USDT BTC position cost 20 USDT in fees before any slippage. Positions closed within the hour may still pay one funding settlement.

Day trading for beginners: common questions

How much money do I need to start day trading?

There is no fixed minimum on perpetuals, but starting with money you can afford to lose entirely is the only safe answer.

Does the pattern day trader rule apply here?

No. The US PDT rule applies to US margin accounts in stocks; BRVX does not serve US persons and does not use it.

Can beginners make money day trading?

Some do, most do not; studies of retail day traders show a large majority losing money over time.
