What is different about Labor Day
Labor Day has been a federal holiday on the first Monday of September since 1894. On Wall Street many desks treat it as the end of the summer lull, and banks and federal offices shut for the day. The first Labor Day parade took place in New York City in September 1882, twelve years before the day became national. It can fall anywhere from September 1 to September 7. It is the last three-day market weekend before Thanksgiving closes the exchange in late November.
The exchange is dark from Friday afternoon to Tuesday morning; BRVX stock perpetuals go on quoting.
