What the silver perpetual is

Silver is both a precious metal and an industrial one: more than half of demand comes from solar panels, electronics and other industry. That makes it swing harder than gold.

The BRVX perp tracks the silver price in USDT without expiry dates or rolling, unlike COMEX futures.

Silver has run a supply deficit for several years, with mine output and recycling below demand. Most silver is mined as a by-product of copper, lead and zinc, so higher silver prices do not quickly add supply.

What moves silver

Two kinds of demand.

  • Gold: silver usually follows it, but with bigger moves; the gold-to-silver ratio shows how far.
  • Industrial demand, led by solar panel production.
  • The US dollar and real interest rates.

Long or short Silver?

A silver long bets on gold strength, solar demand or a weaker dollar.

A silver short bets on rising real rates or an industrial slowdown.
