When Meta reports

Meta follows the calendar year; its third quarter spans July through September and usually reaches investors in the second half of October. The call is at 4:30 p.m. ET and is listed on investor.atmeta.com. Meta splits results into two segments: Family of Apps, which holds almost all revenue, and Reality Labs, which reports large operating losses. Since 2024 Meta no longer reports Facebook user numbers on their own, only daily active people across its family of apps.

What to watch in the Meta report

Names from Meta's own reporting. We do not publish forecasts.

  1. Advertising revenue

Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. Ad impressions and price per ad show where growth comes from.

  2. AI capex

Meta gives ranges for expenses and capital spending on data centers. Changes to them often drive the move after the report.

  3. Reality Labs

The AR, VR and wearables segment, reported separately with its own operating loss.

META around the 4:30 p.m. call

Meta's release hits the wire just after the close and the call starts thirty minutes later, so the headline ad revenue and the capex guidance arrive almost together. The META perpetual on BRVX is quoted through both and through the Asian and European mornings that follow.

  • Up to 100x The app suggests 50x and lets you go as low as 5x.
  • 0.05% per side Both the open and the close are charged on the full position, not on your margin.
  • Hourly funding 0.0046% per hour on the long side; about $1.10 a day on a $1,000 position.

A change in Meta's spending plan can outweigh a beat on revenue. If you hold into the call, keep leverage low enough that a gap in either direction leaves margin.

With 8x on Meta, around 9.9% against you ends the trade.
